A reading of the plot of Fear of Intimacy sounds like it could play like Fubo meets Body Double, continuing the line of cool, fashionable noir gloominess in the Hong Kong indie cinema. Tony Leung Ka-fai lends his star presence to this production, playing a paparazzo caught in a web of murder and deceit as his personal love life becomes a mess: all his girlfriends dump him (one does a disappearing act that haunts his conscience). Leung's compelling presence makes this a credible study of a paparazzo on the dog-prowling beat unable to love honestly and responsibly until a young female assistant turns him around.
