I guess many fans of Michelle Saram should know that she first came to fame in Year 1997 when she went to Hong Kong and filmed the commercial with heart throb singer-actor Aaron Kwok.

That was quite a unprecedented move as there wasnt many Singapore artistes who managed to venture overseas. The earliest which i can remember was Jimmy Ye liang Jun (I guess hes forgetable coz he doesnt sing now) and singer Kit Chan who starred in SNOW WOLF LAKE with Jacky Cheung in HongKong.

Thus her foray into Hong Kong was quite a boom.

It was reported that she signed up with FLY ENTERTAINMENT who became her managing company. Fly Entertainment was based in Singapore and started by Miss Phuah Chu Kang, or Irene Ang- a Singapore Veteran Actress who acted as Phua Chu Kang's wife in the award winning(Asian TV award) sitcom
Phua Chu Kang.

I could not find or I din not manage to find information about the lawsuit- Why and when it started coz i guess it was kept in wraps. I had studies Law modules before and a breach of contract is deemed quite serious as Money will be the settlement in most cases.

there was a report in Straits Times that Michelle Saram was sued S$262000 which was quite a huge sum by Fly Entertainment for breach of contract.

My prelimary guess (not official) is that it could be due to the fact that she took up certain projects without the knowledge of FLY ENTERTAINMENT perhaps some ill informed advise given to her.

THat backfired. I guess she was 25 years old then and was heading to an illustrious career......to be continued

Her plans were thrwarted by the lawsuit. She had to find money to settle it.
Her dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and she needed more money to pay hospital bills.

That was the time when she was filming XUN QIN JI (A Step into the Past) with luis koo. She was at a low then in 2000-2001 and was filming in China.

She held a press conference in 2001 to give the public her view of point. She cried in that press conference citing the problems with her family and a halt to her career which was about to fly high.

She settled her lawsuit out of court with FLY ENTERTAINMENT. My guess is that she paid at least half of the amout sued perhaps due to the fact that the legal fees will be substantial as compared to the sum sued and she and FLY Entertainment decided on a reduced sum in both benefits. Another way could be Irene Ang decided a lower sum due to Michelle's difficulties.

Things turned around after she paid.
Hype Records' Artiste Networks which is the subsidiary company of Giant MediaCorp of Singapore signed her and now manages her.

Despite her legal cause being championed by Fly Entertainment, Saram did not sign up with the artiste management company started by actress Irene Ang.

Asked if there was any bad blood between her and Fly because of that, she said: 'At least not on my part. We're still good friends.'

I am really interested to find out what exactly happen that time but the website Straits Times had , had archived the report and i will have to pay S$600 to access to the report!!! OMG!!!

So I guess i could go to Library to check the old newspapers out. If u happen to know when the lawsuit started and settled (I mean the exact date) Then It will be easier. Private MEssage me on that. Thanks. But that will happen only in this semester break or SUmmer break.

Thats it for now. =) I hope to add more news on a regular basis. .
