Believe me, in the first MG series I was all for Shan Cai. So when I heard that A Si had a new love interest in MG2, I was disheartened.
But I still watched MG2. And I fell in love with Yesha, more of an admiration of her character. Yesha may be silly, but wise in many ways. I love her famous quotes. I especially love her Brave Yesha story. And I love her painting backs of A Si all the time.
As I've watched Yesha's relationship with A Si grow, I realized that Yesha may be the girl that A Si would really want to spend with the rest of his life. It could have gone deeper. And at that point I wondered whether the relationship with Shan Cai and A Si went on that level. They always fight all the time. Yesha was more patient with A Si and even made sacrifices for the latter. Of course, there is that climax in that last episode. But A Si forgot everything with that accident, and he started a new life again, discovering everything with Yesha. I thought that built the chemistry between them.
Of course, my hope would be in vain. A Si went back to Shan Cai, leaving Yesha no choice but to accept the fact that A Si loves somebody else. I think that it was hard for her to accept that. I think that she was really heartborken. Maybe she doesn't deserve A Si because he almost immediately went back to the man he was before the accident. But I can only live with the thought that A Si would be going back to her someday.
I still like Shan Cai, actually I won't even watch MG1 if not for her (and A Si). She was a fighter and would stand up for anyone, even the mighty F4. But MG2 told a different story, about what life is and growing up. The ending does not quite fit the story. Yesha should have been the one.
Comment: I wish when MG2's original DVD comes out, they would make a documentary (as a bonus feature) or something about the original plot direction. I wanna know if they actually considered Yesha to end up with Ahsi in the end.
Comment: I agreed with Rose 218's comments on MG2 and I personally admired the character of Ye Sha so much. I had read lots of negative comments of the character of Ye Sha and felt sorry for Michelle cause she did great in MG2. I think because she brought out Ye Sha's character so lively especially in those romantic shots with DMS that made Shan Cai's fan hate her role. But from my view, DMS matched better with Ye Sha.
Comment: ya,i agree..not that i don't like shan cai's character anymore..it's just that the chemistry of ah si n ye sha is very strong and visible than that of shan cai's.but both characters evoked similar n different personalities together.
